Learn More About Dance Company
Davis High's Dance Company is the highest level of dance available at Davis High and is our most advanced performing company. Sanctioned under UDEO, Dance Company is run similar to a college-level dance performance program, with an emphasis on contemporary, jazz, ballet, and modern styles. Dance Company provides 10-15 professional quality performances throughout the year, including university program scholarship auditions, multiple opportunities for students to choreograph their own works, and training with professional dancers and choreographers. Placement in Dance Company is by audition only and requires advanced dance technique, training, and artistry. Our style of dance and emphasis on technique translates seamlessly to a wide path of college, professional, or teaching opportunities in dance after high school.

Dance Company aligns with the long-standing tradition of dance as a performing art and emulates the talented artists from storied professional companies such as ABT, Joffrey, New York City Ballet, Martha Graham, Batsheva, LINES, Alvin Ailey, the Rockettes, and Utah's own Ballet West. If this is the type of dance you value, then Dance Company is a tremendous fit for you as a dancer.

Dance Company at Davis High is a fast-paced environment, as dancers will learn up to 20 different pieces for our various performances, and requires a yearlong commitment. However, we seek a balance that allows students to also be involved in other extracurriculars and their private dance studios. We encourage our dancers to maintain studio training in conjunction with our Company so they can maximize these key growth years as a dancer. We encourage our dancers to make the most of their high school experience and be well-rounded; dancers on Dance Company have juggled a variety of other extracurricular programs at Davis High: musical theater, madrigals choir, student government, cheer, mountain biking, tennis, band, marching band, advanced theater, Hope squad, and other clubs and activities.
Dance Company has a committed culture of love, respect, hard work, responsibility, fun, and laughter. High-level dance is meant to inspire, uplift, and challenge us, not be a source of anxiety or negativity.

Dance Company is the absolute best platform at Davis High to accelerate your growth artistically and technically. Dance Company provides intimate access and exposure to the professional world of dance that is hard to replicate, including master classes, artist-in-residence programs, festivals, and choreography from professionals with Ririe Woodbury, RDT, Odyssey, Ballet West, and others. The Artistic Director of Davis High's Dance Company is constantly seeking new avenues for collaboration and exposure to the professional and collegiate world of dance to provide maximum value to our dancers.
